Yeti

Purported Yeti Scalp
For many, when they hear the word “Yeti”, the first thing that comes to mind is the more common name, “The Abominable Snowman”. Located in the Himalayas, there have been many sightings of the creature itself, as well as its abnormally large footprints. The foot prints said to measure between 30 and 45 centimeters, of which the inner toes were abnormally larger than the outer toes. The heel of the foot was also quite flat, but was very broad at the same time. Nonetheless, many people still believe there is no Yeti, and it is just another campfire myth. Others, are strong believers that the Yeti does exist, and dedicate much of their time, in hope that one day they an prove their theory. People who do not believe there is a Yeti claim that the foot prints are from an animal. Although, people who are familiar with the area throughout Tibet and Nepal claim that there is no animal in the area that has such footprints.
There story of the Yeti originated in Nepal very long ago, sometime in the 4th century. It has said to be sighted regularly from 1832 to present day. The word Yeti stands for “magical creature”. The Abdominal Snowman was given to it as a nickname by newspaper writers, in order to scare the readers more than they already were. The creature has throughout the years put a lot of fear in areas close to the Himalayas.
Locals claim that there is more than one species of the Yeti. Yet, they claim that the three species are all extremely similar. Some say the Yeti has red hair, while others claim it is gray. They also claim that it smells extremely bad, and it extremely powerful. Some people say that the Yeti throws massive boulders like they are tiny pebbles.
For those who believe in the Yeti, they say that it may possibly be a descendent of a kind of ape from many years ago. Others say that the Yeti may be a descendent of an ancient group of people that entered the mountains after fleeing their enemies. People who do not believe in the Yeti continue to claim that it is simply an ape or bear.
In 1961, the government of Nepal declared officially that the Yeti does exist, even with the lack of physical evidence. There have never been any actual sightings, aside from some people claiming to have gotten a glimpse. The Yeti may be a myth, or may very well be out there and alive.
