The Danish Air Force has opened its UFO archives, providing information on over 15,000 reported extraterrestrial sightings to the public

UFO archives are now readily available to the public, detailing sightings from over the last 30 years. The Danish Air Force published the archive online yesterday because it felt that ‘there was nothing secret in the files’.

The Air Force said that most of the sightings remained ‘unidentified’ because the details were not precise enough. However, some of the reports contained enough description to rule out the UFOs as aircraft, weather phenomenon or paper lanterns.
Not all of the sightings were centred over Denmark and one event over Greenland is attracting attention.

On the 5 January, 1981 at 12:50 a flaming, square disc was seen approximately 45 degrees over the frozen land near Thule Air Base. It then vanished as suddenly as it had appeared.

Coincidentally, radar stations at the American base recorded an unidentified flying object on its radar at 12:50.

Air Force Captain Thomas Petersen, who has an extensive knowledge of the files, commented that any unresolved sightings are handed over to the Scandinavian UFO Centre, if they request it.

He added that the Air Force’s main mission was to defend Denmark against threat, ‘and UFOs are not a known threat’.

RAF pilots have tried to BLAST UFOs out of the sky under a top secret Government directive, it was claimed last night.

Nick Pope — who worked on the Ministry of Defence’s UFO desk for three years — revealed the rules of engagement for the first time.

He claimed RAF pilots had fired at UFOs on several occasions — but failed to bring them down.

He added: “We know of cases where the order has been given to shoot down — with little effect to the UFO.”

Mr Pope said the rules of engagement were drawn up after dozens of close encounters with suspect craft in British airspace.

RAF attacks on UFOs were “not automatic but happen when something in our airspace is deemed to be a threat”.

He explained: “In the case of UFOs, whether the object is causing a threat is very much a (pilot’s) judgment call.”

Mr Pope, 43, from London, said the “shoot down” orders had been issued under the highly-classified directive since the beginning of the 1980s.

He believes a pattern has emerged in incidents already publicised in this country and abroad.

When a UFO is thought to be threatening a country’s airspace, the drastic action has been taken.

He said: “There was a faction in the MoD who said ‘We want to shoot down a UFO and that will resolve the issue one way or another’.’’

He claimed credible UFO witness statements had come from dozens of near-misses with planes, police helicopters and RAF jets in recent years.

Earlier this month The Sun told how a UFO was believed to have torn off a 65ft blade as it hit a wind turbine in Conisholme, Lincs.

Locals saw “strange lights” streaking towards the 290ft-tall power generator.

But any alien battles with the RAF will be kept secret, according to Mr Pope, who worked as a civil servant at the MoD for 21 years.

He said: “The public won’t know unless it comes down in a heavily-populated area.”

They used 3-D shape analysis to study the LB1 skull of the hobbit and found the shape of the skull to be consistent with a scaled down human ancestor but not modern humans. Their findings, reported in the current online edition of the Journal of Human Evolution, add to the evidence that the hobbit is a new species.

The question as to whether the hobbit was human or another species remains controversial. Some scientists claim the hobbit was a diminutive human that suffered from some type of disease that causes microcephaly, which results in abnormal growth of the brain and causes the cranium to be much smaller than the normal human cranium. But Dr. Baab and co-author Kieran McNulty, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Minnesota, believe their findings counter the microcephaly theory.

“A skull can provide researchers with a lot of important information about a fossil species, particularly regarding their evolutionary relationships to other fossil species,” explains Dr. Baab. “The overall shape of the LB1 skull, particularly the part that surrounds the brain (neurocranium) looks similar to fossils more than 1.5 million years older from Africa and Eurasia, rather than modern humans, even though Homo floresiensis is documented from 17,000 to 95,000 years ago.”

To carry out the study, Dr. Baab and colleagues collected 3D landmark data on the LB1 skull and a large sample of fossils representing other extinct hominin species, as well as a comparative sample of modern humans and apes. They performed several analyses of different regions of the skulls. Taken together, these analyses indicated that the LB1 skull shape is that of a scaled down Homo fossil not a scaled down modern human.

The results of the analysis of the asymmetry of the skulls, which refers to differences between the right and left sides of the skull, refutes the suggestion that the LB1 skull was that of a modern human with a diagnosis of microcephaly. In modern humans, a high degree of asymmetry may indicate that the individual was diseased. At least one scientific study on the asymmetry of LB1 supported the argument that this individual had microcephaly. Conversely, Dr. Baab and colleagues found the degree of asymmetry of the LB1 skull was not unexpectedly high and therefore not supportive of the diagnosis of microcephaly.

“The degree of asymmetry in LB1 was within the range of apes and was very similar to that seen in other fossil skulls,” says Dr. Baab. “We suggest that the degree of asymmetry is within expectations for this population of hominins, particular given that the conditions of the cave in Indonesia in which the skull was preserved may have contributed to asymmetry.”

Dr. Baab recognizes that the controversy as to the evolutionary origins of Homo floresiensis will continue, perhaps without an answer. However, all the evidence that she and colleagues illustrate in their article “Size, shape, and asymmetry in fossil hominins: The status of the LB1cranium based on 3D morphometric analyses,” suggest that Homo floresiensis was most likely the diminutive descendant of a species of archaic Homo.

The results of this study are also in line with what other researchers in the Department of Anatomical Sciences at Stony Brook University have found regarding the rest of the hobbit skeleton. Drs. William Jungers and Susan Larson have documented a range of primitive features in both the upper and lower limbs of Homo floresiensis, highlighting the many ways that these hominins were unlike modern humans.

A group of researchers searching for shipwrecks at the bottom of Lake Michigan claim they’ve found a 10,000-year-old stone structure similar to Stonehenge.

One of the rocks reportedly is carved with the image of a mastodon, according to io9.com.

If the image turns out to be a mastodon or mammoth, it would provide evidence that humans may have raised the rock formation.

The report, which includes sonar images, was actually released in 2007, but is just now gaining attention.

Ancient rocks with images on them have been found in the Lake Michigan area previously, and there’s a possibility that humans could have created the rock formation when part of the lake bed was dry in the late Ice Age.

Stonehenge, which archaeologists believe was a prehistoric burial ground, remains the most famous ancient rock formation discovered, but back in 2001 researchers discovered 18-story-high towers of stone at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean near the area where some believe the lost city of Atlantis once existed.

A remarkable UFO was seen and filmed in China by an entire squadron of fire-fighters in Liu Pan Shui City in the province of Guizhou through a camera with a 700X zoom capability. One of the fire-fighters, Wang Jia Wei, noticed an odd looking, brightly flashing star moving in a south easterly direction and went inside the fire-fighters barracks to get a camera.

Luckily for Wang he was able to find a Panasonic camera used by his comrades to record damage caused by fires that allowed him to zoom in on the mysterious object seven hundred times. At that point Wang could see that the object was in fact two rotating spinning top shaped crafts or halves of a whole craft joined at a their bases. They were flashing a multitude of colours: Purple, red, blue, orange, white and gold.

Wang then called his eight fellow fire-fighters out and they observed the slow moving craft for almost an hour until the craft suddenly vanished.

20 minutes of footage was recorded and have been showed to Chinese reporters. The firemen approached the Liu Pan Shiu meteorological bureau two days after the sighting to seek some answers. Surprised staff members working for the bureau were shown the footage but were unable to identify what the object might be, declaring that it is indeed a UFO. There has been no suggestion that the fire-fighters faked the sighting and this not believed to be the case by any involved parties, the footage has been handed to government astronomical departments for further analysis.

The UFO corresponds to the craft often described in sightings around the word as a ‘diamond UFO’. These craft are usually seen at great heights and almost never seen on earth itself. This has lead some to believe they are highly evolved technology well beyond your ‘standard’ saucer and might be used to travel from other civilized planets rather merely used to explore planets like earth after exiting a more substantial mother ship.

The incident has received wide coverage by mainstream media in China, although it has received no publicity in the west as far as we know. Hardly surprising, as this is a credible and compelling incident of the type Western Governments would rather people not know about. The Chinese Government, however, is known to take a more open minded approach to UFOs and generally regards them as fact.

After his inauguration, President Obama will begin receiving daily intelligence briefings from his incoming Director of National Intelligence, Admiral Dennis Blair (ret.). The briefings will inform him of vital national security issues where he is required to make decisions that will become official U.S. policy.

This will involve well known issues such as international terrorism, nuclear proliferation and global armed conflict where sanitized public statements are released. Some national security issues, however, are so highly classified that no public statements will be released at all. Among the vital national security issues that President Obama will receive classified briefings on is intelligence data on UFOs and extraterrestrial life.

The existence of UFOs and extraterrestrial life has long been the most highly classified issue in the world of military intelligence. In September 1950, Robert Sarbacher, a science consultant to President Truman’s Research and Development Board, revealed to a Canadian Transportation official, Wilbert Smith, that the issue of UFOs “is the most highly classified subject in the U.S. government at the present time.”

Documents have been leaked that reveal that Obama’s predecessors have received intelligence briefings on UFOs and extraterrestrial life. The most credible is an alleged classified briefing that President-Elect Eisenhower received in November 18, 1952 by former CIA Director, Rear Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter,. The Eisenhower Briefing Document (EBD) contains startling information on crashed UFOs and the existence of extraterrestrial life. The EBD has been closely investigated by leading UFO researchers who support its authenticity.

A more recent document has emerged which is an alleged transcript of President Reagan receiving a highly classified intelligence briefing by former CIA Director William Casey and other officials on extraterrestrial life in March 1981. Circumstantial support for President Reagan receiving such an intelligence briefing is found in his subsequent public comments concerning extraterrestrial life. President Reagan made five famous public comments about the need for humanity to join together to respond to an extraterrestrial threat. Despite this circumstantial support, the alleged transcript of Reagan’s intelligence briefings on extraterrestrial life is not viewed as a credible document by most UFO researchers.

The national security implications of extraterrestrial life is a well kept secret even to many elements of the U.S. military. Reliable information has emerged detailing UFOs being seen in the vicinity of U.S. nuclear missile bases. On more than one occasion, all nuclear missiles in different locations have been deactivated by UFOs. According to retired U.S. Air Force Captain Robert Salas, official Air Force investigations of these incidents were stopped by more senior national security officials for unknown reasons.

UFOs have also been witnessed by trained military observers shooting down missiles being flight tested for carrying nuclear warheads. If such reports are accurate, the national security implications of UFOs makes them a vital national security issue that would be closely monitored by the intelligence community.

As a former Commander of the Hawaii based U.S. Pacific Fleet, Admiral Blair has knowledge of the underwater UFO activity witnessed near Hawaii and elsewhere in the Pacific ocean. Blair’s position and Naval experience indicates that he will at some point brief Obama on UFOs and extraterrestrial life.

Argentina is in the middle of a massive UFO flap, with sightings occurring virtually on a daily basis. Much of this activity centres on the town of Victoria in the Entre Rios province.

One of the most recent sightings occurred on January 2 2009 starting at around 11pm. Witnesses are reported to have seen at least three UFOs. The first emerged from the body of water known as Laguna Del Pescado and then sped towards the fields surrounding the regional city of Victoria. A second large white light then appeared in the sky, parallel to the moon, before turning west and speeding upwards away from earth. Finally another light then appeared and did the same-the lights ranged in colour from white, blue, red orange and yellow.

The UFOs were seen by multiple witnesses from a number of viewpoints and police were contacted. One witness noted that they did not behave like Chinese lanterns, flares or fireworks but rather like controlled craft. A photograph taken of one of the objects appears above.

This is hardly the first incident concerning Laguna Del Pescado and Los Rios Province in Argentina. Numerous high profile UFO sightings have been reported over the years as well as a series of suspicious cattle mutilations. There are also reports of a crashed UFO in 1992 that was witnessed by local farmers and cleaned up by the military.

There is a UFO Museum in Victoria which contains a unique metallic substance supposedly taken from the crash site that turns translucent when photographed and causes mobile phones to break! Local Argentinean ufologists have even scanned the area around Laguna Del Pescado with magnetic receivers and while they found irregularities they found nothing conclusive. However the local UFO museum’s director Ms Silvia Perez is fairly convinced that a UFO base exists in the area, possibly submerged under Laguna Del Pescado.

PHOENIX - For centuries people have looked to the skies for answers.  Is there life outside our solar system? Have UFO’s visited our planet?

Because our sun is a star, does that mean the thousands of stars visible in the night sky could be someone else’s sun?  The questions, and the universe, are endless.

Events like the March 1997 mass-sighting of strange night lights above the Valley, popularly dubbed ”Phoenix Lights”, have generated questions and turned skeptics into believers.

A 600-page guide may lend credibility to UFO believers.

The Fire Officer’s Guide To Disaster Control can apparently be found in firehouses across the United States.

It covers everything from fire and flood response to aviation disasters.

Chapter 13 of the book has an unusual twist.  Titled “Enemy Attack And UFO Potential”, it outlines what could happen in the event of a UFO crash.

The authors of the book, retired firefighters William M. Kramer and Charles W. Bahme write in part:

It would be remiss to not give some part to the role fire departments might play in the even of the unexpected arrival of UFO’s in their communities…In a less optimistic scenario, you may have engine trouble upon approaching the scene, and radio contact could be lost with your dispatcher.  If at night, your headlights could go out, the city could be blacked out, and your portable generators may malfunction when you attempt to use them for fans and portable lights.

ABC15 contacted several Valley fire agencies regarding the book and some even called us asking several questions prior to the story airing.

Not one fire department we found admitted to using the guide for training, although some did recognize the guide’s existence.

“It just shows you that serious professional people are starting to take his whole subject of UFO’s seriously,” said Jim Mann, director of the Maricopa County chapter of The Mutual UFO Network.

For nearly ten years, Mann has investigated UFO sightings and encounters for MUFON in what he calls a fact finding mission.

“I don’t think we’re crack-pots, we’re just people who want to be aware of what’s going on, even if the reports turn out to be false,” Mann said.

The authors of the guide could not be reached by ABC15 for comment regarding this story, but in a previous reports by other outlets, they said many people are missing the point regarding the chapter and a UFO does not just mean an alien spaceship.

Regardless, believers like Jim Mann view the guide as an opportunity for non-believers to at least take a closer look.

“UFO-ology could possibly be taken seriously now, we don’t know where we came from and we don’t know where we’re going,” he said.

Mann claims he has investigated dozens of UFO sightings in the Phoenix area, including those reported by members of the military and doctors.

“These are well respected people,” Mann said. ”We (MUFON) aren’t trying to push our beliefs on anyone. Anything could happen and this is a matter that should be taken seriously.”

A 65ft blade from the 290ft turbine fell off and a second was bent in the mysterious incident in Conisholme, Lincs, on Wednesday.

Hundreds of local witnesses claimed to have seen bright flashing spheres in the skies above the turbine, and many are convinced the damage was caused by a flying saucer.

Scientists at manufacturers Enercon have been looking into the mystery, and dismissed the theories that either a chunk of ice thrown from another turbine, or frozen urine dropped from a passing plane, was the cause.

A source told The Sun: “It is impossible to get a lump of ice on a wind turbine blade big enough to cause that kind of damage, let alone be flung from one to another.

“Also, turbines have sensors in the blade. If they detect ice forming they turn themselves off.

“Additionally, any large lump of ice would not have melted so quickly in the cold weather and would probably have left a dent in the ground. No debris was found other than remains of the turbine.

“If there is a rational explanation, the investigation will find it.”

A lightning strike has also been ruled out, as there were no burn marks.

Ministry of Defence insiders have reportedly said the UFOs could be unmanned stealth bombers on test flights.

It is also possible that one of the blades had simply not been securely fixed, and fell off bending the other on its way down.

The results of the investigation being carried out by forensic scientists in Germany should be disclosed within a week.

Dale Vine, managing director of Ecotricity which owns the turbine, said: “We’ve ruled out ice from other turbines or passing jets.

“We’ve examined the turbine, the fallen blade and the surrounding area. We have been crawling all over it. To make one of these blades fall off, or to bend it, takes a lot.”
